Companies house fees set to increase from 1st May 2024

The fees charged by Companies House are slated to increase as part of the agency's annual review. Set to take effect from May 1, 2024, these new costs impact various services such as incorporation, name changes, confirmation statements, company re-registration, and others. The agency emphasizes that these prices are established on a cost recovery basis, ensuring they cover the expenses of service provision without generating profit.

A spokesperson for Companies House explained, "We are adjusting our fees to align them with the actual costs of delivering our services. Additionally, these adjustments will cover the costs associated with new powers introduced through the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act. This move aims to enable funding for investigative and enforcement activities, which safeguard the integrity of the register, foster a healthy business environment, and combat economic crime."

The filing fee itself hasn't increased in 8 years so some may argue that these price increases are long overdue. Alongside the price increases are the implementation of additional measures as mentioned above to combat crime associated with the services companies house provide such as having to provide an email address from March 2024 when incorporating a company, and soon to be ID checks for the directors and shareholders of the incorporating company.

Some of the price increases are significant and as a firm we will be keeping these price increases to a minimum and will advise in plenty of time so our clients have the opportunity to file themselves or, have us do it for a small admin fee. Either way as part of our core values we will keep you informed in plenty of time.
